Located just across the bay from Ocean City along the New Jersey shore, Greate Bay Country Club “is one of the best kept secrets at the Jersey Shore but not for long” Pat Croce
Greate Bay’s history is linked to the very origins of golf. She was designed in 1927 by Scotsman Willie Park Jr., an icon of Scottish golf heritage. Park’s father, Willie SR. and uncle, Mungo Park, were early “Open” champions in the day’s when there was only one “Open”. Willie joined them by capturing a pair of Opens in the 1880’s and authored the first-ever golf instruction book by a professional. In addition to Greate Bay, Willie designed a number of U.S. courses including the famed Olympia Fields North course, which hosted the U.S. Open in 1997 and 2003. Greate Bay hosted the LPGA Tour’s Atlantic City stop for 10 years starting in 1988.
Located just a couple of miles from the ocean, Greate Bay demands the auld-tyme Scottish skills of ball control, discretion and touch. But Greate golf is only the beginning of the Greate Bay experience. Starting with the best 19th hole in golf, Greate Bay also offers outstanding dinning and banquet facilities as well as a 50,000 sq. ft fitness facility, first rate Squash club and indoor tennis. A high end residential complex is expected to be added in the very near future.
Taking a cue from Pat Croce, partner and CMO (Chief Motivational Officer), Greate Bay’s motto has quickly become, “It’s not just Golf it’s fun”! One visit and you will see why.
