Special
Olympics is an international nonprofit organization
dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual
disabilities to become physically fit, productive
and respected members of society through sports
training and competition. Special Olympics
Pennsylvania provides year-round training and
competition in 23 Olympic-type sports to more
than 18,000 children and adults with intellectual
disabilities.
Pat Croce has been involved with the Special Olympics organization for over 30 years. He was their keynote speaker last May at their 12th Hall of Fame event, along with special guests Dick Vermeil and Vince Papale, as they induct volunteers and athletes into the Hall of Fame. Induction into Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s Hall of Fame is the highest honor available to a volunteer or athlete and gives individuals the recognition they deserve as personalities whose athletic feats are every bit as impressive as those of other world-class athletes and should be lauded as such.
