“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw
This quote strongly resonated with me since my body-mind celebrated its 72nd growing older birthday this week - on the “Day of the Dead” or “All Soul’s Day.”
I imagine the Divine chuckled when She dreamed of manifesting this PC cartoon character on a particular day of the year when sugar skulls are the iconic images and departed souls are the recipient of prayers. (No wonder I gravitate to the black Jolly Roger flag.)
I suggest that we not expend excess energy on praying for the souls of the dead; instead, invest that loving intention into waking-up the souls of the living who act as if they are dead. Simply be the radiant light of playing and enjoying this incarnation of life to its fullest by whatever means stokes your enthusiasm.
